Sportive Lemur Phylogeny Accepted

When I first visited the Omaha Zoo last August I was asked to help work on a sportive lemur phylogeny constructed from whole mitochondrial genomes. After some significant changes to the manuscript it is now accepted to the Journal of Heredity. This is the first time a dated tree has been published on this little known genus of lemurs. We dated the split between the east and west coast over 15 million years ago! Several species split from their closest relatives over five million years ago. We also evaluated the ancestral ranges of each species, since some species are not geographically proximate to their closest relatives. Right now the uncorrected proof is published, so stay tuned for the final version! Find the link to the paper below:
